Every single PC or server is run by an Operating System - the low-level software which communicates with the computer hardware, including peripherals such as a mouse or a printer, as well as any applications that are installed on your system. Any program input through a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the OS. On a server, each and every application runs within the parameters defined by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, etcetera. This goes for both standard Internet site scripts and server-side software like a media server. When a virtual server is created on a physical one, there can be two different Operating Systems, called guest OS and host OS, so that you can set up a different software environment on the same machine.

Multiple OS in VPS Servers

Our VPS server packages feature three Linux releases which you can select from for the Operating System of your new web server - Debian, Ubuntu and CentOS. In addition to being totally free, the OSs are really stable and risk-free and the primary reason to offer all 3 of them is to make sure that you'll be able to run each application that you would like, since different pieces of software could have different requirements when it comes to the environment they can be used on. Each one of the three OSs is supported by a vast community of web developers who have made thousands of software packages which you can install and use on your VPS. In accordance with the Operating System that you choose, you will also be able to choose between 3 different Control Panels to manage your web hosting content. Needless to say, if you decide that you need another OS, we could always re-install the server with it. As an optional upgrade, we also offer weekly updates of the OS for optimum stability and security.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers

We offer three Operating Systems with our dedicated server packages - CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian. They're all different Linux distributions and we offer them not only because they're completely free so they won't increase the low price of your new server, but also because they are really stable and secure. Each of them is backed up by a huge community of web developers, so you'll be able to choose from many hundreds of software packages that you can install on your server if the app that you would like to employ has certain requirements. The Operating System will also determine what internet hosting Control Panel you can use since the Control Panels that we offer are compatible with specific OSs only and because we would like to give you as much freedom as possible, we offer multiple OSs and multiple Control Panels. In case you get a server with a certain OS, we could change it upon request if it turns out that you'll need a different one. We can also keep your OS updated weekly as part of our optional Managed Services upgrade.
